Label Description:
For more than 150 years Yalumba has been a vital part of the Barossa, making wines that reflect the best of the region. This wine is made from Barossa Shiraz grown on 30-50 year old vines, cofermented with 5% of Viognier – a rare and exotic grape variety that enhances the colour and adds a sweet floral fragrance to the Shiraz. The palate is mouth filling with liquorice, dark cherry and plum fruit flavours balanced by long, smooth tannins. |

This is a tasty red wine with great color and body. The first time I tasted this wine it was with pizza of all things, and some good friends. The wine greatly exceeded the meal in quality and taste. This wine is fantastic tasting and it would go good with almost any food. Be forewarned though this wine is so good it is easy to drink a lot. I highly recommend adding this wine to your collection. |

Very tasty. I sometimes find Shiraz to be too “big and bold” for my mouth. However, the Viognier grape softens the Shiraz while you still get all that great Shiraz flavor. It is extraordinarily well balanced and fills your whole mouth with flavors of cherry and plum as well as some very nice hints of floral flavors. Not too much tannin, but just enough. It lingers well on the tongue continuing to show off different sides of the wine, which makes it a great wine to have on its own. It would also go well with red meat roasts with sweet, caramelized onions on top. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it now. |
